db Bistro Moderne's Farmer Dinner Series: Dinner w/ Tim Stark

Chef Brian Loiacono will feature the bounty of three local farmers, showcasing each one through a four-course menu. Each farmer will share his passion and philosophy with guests, and Sommelier Joseph Camper will be on hand with clever beverage pairings to complement each dish.


An “accidental tomato farmer”, Tim Stark, started growing tomatoes on his Brooklyn rooftop over 15 years ago. Now situated in Pennsylvania’s Oley Valley, Eckerton Hill Farm boasts over 100 varieties of heirloom tomatoes and peppers. Chef Brian Loiacono will craft the menu around Tim’s sun gold tomatoes and other seasonal produce at the peak of ripeness.

Sud De France is throwing a festival within a festival! This will include taking over an entire city block and filling it with a table that covers the entire length of the street! You'll have your pick of the region's most delicious foods, to purchase or to enjoy on the spot. As a special treat, French-born chef Laurent Kalkotour of the recently opened restaurant Atrium at Dumbo will be making one of Languedoc's most beloved specialties, brandade de morue, a wickedly flavorful salt cod dish made with the most sublime olive oil. The Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream truck will also be serving a surprise Sud de France ice cream flavor.  You will also indulge on Cemoi chocolate, taste the Fleur de Sel from Camargue and quench your thirst with Perrier.

Sud De France Festival Launch Party

Board the legendary party machine, Queen of Hearts, celebrity chef Paul Liebrandt will prepare a super giant-sized cassoulet. His interpretation of cassoulet is a shrimp-based bean stew. Your taste buds will be in heaven but so will your feet, as you'll dance the night away to the infectious tunes of Brooklyn's finest Balkan jazz funkmeisters, Slavic Soul Party, and DJ Nancy Whang (DFA records), whirling down the river past France’s iconic gift to America, that other Queen of Hearts, Lady Liberty herself.

All the proceeds go to the non-for-profit organization Wheeling Forward, co-founded by sommelier Yannick Benjamin.
